About Navigli

Navigli is built around two historic canals, the Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese, that meet at the Darsena, the restored old harbour anchoring the quarter. By day, antique dealers, vintage boutiques and the monthly Mercatone dell'Antiquariato draw browsers along the towpaths, while students relax by the water. After 5pm the district transforms: bars and trattorie lining both canals fill for aperitivo, with cocktail institutions like Rita and rustic spots like El Brellin spilling onto pedestrianised banks. Metro M2 at Porta Genova and trams keep it tightly connected, while the Vicolo dei Lavandai washhouse preserves its older Milanese character.
