About Mykonos Town (Chora)

Chora, the capital, is a traffic-free labyrinth of dazzling white lanes, bougainvillea and the emblematic 16th-century Venetian windmills (Kato Mili) overlooking the sea. At its waterfront, Little Venice's brightly painted balconies hang over the water beside the much-photographed Panagia Paraportiani, five chapels fused into one. By day the town is a luxury-shopping and dining destination along Matogianni Street; by night it is one of Europe's premier party scenes. Property is among the most expensive in Greece (~€7,500–€10,000+/m²), dominated by restored captain's houses and town lofts. It is intensely seasonal and cosmopolitan, with a small permanent population swelling enormously each summer.
