Built as Emperor Diocletian's retirement palace around 305 AD, this UNESCO core is a maze of marble lanes opening onto the Peristyle, the Cathedral of St. Domnius and the Vestibule, all spilling out to the palm-lined Riva. Cafés fill the courtyards by day and the bars hum at night. Buying here means owning a piece of protected heritage: thick stone walls, vaulted ceilings and strict renovation oversight.
